My Physical and Health Education courses, especially Sport Psychology and Health and Fitness, have shaped my teaching philosophy by highlighting the connection between physical activity, nutrition, and student learning. I have learned how movement, mental well-being, and healthy eating all support focus, engagement, and academic success. This has influenced my approach to include opportunities for movement and promote healthy habits in the classroom, creating an environment where students feel energized, supported, and ready to learn.

Taking courses in Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, History, English, Math and Social Work has played a key role in shaping my understanding of students and my future teaching practice. Child development and psychology have helped me understand how students grow emotionally, socially, and cognitively, and how these stages impact learning. Sociology has deepened my awareness of how culture, family background, and social systems influence student experiences, encouraging me to build an inclusive and equitable classroom. Social work has further strengthened my understanding of trauma-informed practice and the importance of supporting the whole child, not just their academic needs. History has helped me reflect on how education systems have evolved and the importance of being intentional and reflective in my own approach to teaching. Together, these courses have helped me design a future classroom that is student-centred, supportive, and responsive to the diverse needs and lived experiences of all learners.
